Syrah from our BCD Vineyard is such a treat. It has the structure and savory aromatics of cool-climate Syrah along with the dark fruit and weight found in warmer climates. With just enough of each, the wine shows balance, seriousness and the potential to age well.
The wine opens with smoked and meaty aromas and spice. Then there’s the tart blackberry foundation that holds the wine together throughout. It’s has a medium viscosity and finishes with wide and smooth tannins that lengthen the finish. The balance is spot on, and it will improve during the next five (or more) years in the bottle.
